Frequently Asked Questions

Pilates is intentional work.

To keep you safe and make sure you get what you came for, please speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

  • For mat classes, bring your mat if the class is mat-only. Grip socks are required for all classes. A closed water bottle is optional.

*For safety purposes, no glass bottles, please.

  • Start with a beginner-friendly class or a private session. Not sure what to take first? Reply START, and I’ll recommend the best option for you.

  • You should leave class feeling centered, taller, and more connected to your body. Challenged, yes. Destroyed, no. If you’re consistently leaving achy or in pain, something is off, and we need to make a change.

  • No. Pilates helps you build strength, mobility, and flexibility at the same time. You start where you are, and we build from there.

  • Tell me before class. Always. Even if it feels minor or “new today.” I can give you modifications, but I need to know what your body is dealing with.

  • Communication and safety come first. I need to know what your body is bringing into the room that day. Before class begins, please tell me if you’re dealing with any injuries, past or present, joint pain or discomfort, tightness or limited range of motion, recent surgery, pregnancy or postpartum changes, dizziness, vertigo or balance issues, or anything that feels off today.

  • Arrive 10 minutes early, especially if it’s your first class, so you can get set up and we can check in.

  • Wear fitted but comfortable clothing that you can move in and that lets me see your alignment.

    **Grip socks are required.

Please do not wear lotions or oils.

No lotions, oils, or shea butter before class. Come ashy, please. It helps you stay safe on the equipment and keeps everything clean.

    Hair and jewelry.

If you have long hair, please tie it up to avoid tangles. No loose jewelry, especially necklaces.

    Phones and personal items.

Please keep your phone put away during class so you can focus on your practice. Also keep phones and glasses off the floor to avoid damage. Silence your phone before class begins.

  • Most people feel a difference right away, but consistency is everything. Aim for 2 to 3 times a week for the best results.

Some classes may also include TRX (Black and yellow straps with handles), which is bodyweight suspension training method that helps build core strength and stability without a lot of pressure on the joints.
